Country-Style Autumn Decoration getting the home ready for the most beautiful season

I will never understand why some people do not like autumn. For me it is the most beautiful season – and the one in which the home shines most brightly. When the leaves glow outside and the air smells of woodsmoke and wet leaves, I want to create the counterpart inside: warm, golden, fragrant.

The colours of autumn and the materials swap warm, rich, deep

Autumn in country style means the colour palette shifts. Away from the pastel tones of summer, towards warm, earthy, rich tones. Terracotta, rust brown, mustard yellow, deep burgundy, muted olive green.

Swapping the cushion covers, a wool blanket in rust brown or mustard yellow over the sofa, a warmer rug: that is the quickest way to bring autumn into the living room.

1 · Pumpkins, dried hydrangeas and candles the classics of autumn decoration

Small ornamental pumpkins in cream white, orange and green on the sideboard. Chestnuts in a wooden bowl on the coffee table. Dried hydrangea heads are the quintessential country-style autumn decoration – they develop a beautiful greenish-lavender-beige as they dry.

Candles are the heart of autumn decoration. A candle holder at every spot in the flat. When all the candles are burning and the floor lamp casts warm light, my flat is exactly as I want it.
