Living · Spring 2026

Living in Country Style my home, my world

There’s that moment in the year when I draw the curtains aside and realise: now spring may come in. Delicate tulips move into the vases, heavy blankets give way to light linen, the candles turn a shade brighter. Come along – I’ll show you how Villa Bloom & Co. is transforming right now, room by room.

Living with Heart my favourite posts

If you’d like to dive deeper – here are the posts where I share the most about cosy living rooms, linen curtains in country style and living with a dog.

Country-style dining room with wicker chairs, pink tulips in a white jug, checked cushions and a New England touch

The dining room · pink tulips, checked cushions and a touch of New England

The dining table · my favourite spot

I found the wicker chairs little by little on the classifieds – always a single one from a different seller. By now the four of us sit on them. The cushions in GreenGate check and a delicate floral pattern change every season: now in spring, soft, bright and with a hint of pink. Add pink tulips from the garden and a little fresh green – really, you don’t need more.

The chairs, the tulips, the stories

This corner has grown over three years. I tracked the wicker chairs down one by one on the classifieds – each from a different seller, sometimes a bit of a drive away, sometimes picked up around the corner. There are four now, each with its own little story. The big wicker lampshade above is from Riviera Maison and tempted me for months before it finally moved in with me as a birthday present.

In the picture you’ll see

  • Wicker chairs · classifieds, various sellers
  • Cream seat cushions · sewn myself from linen
  • Sage check cushions · GreenGate
  • Floral cushions · GreenGate, “Mary”
  • Linen table runner · Riviera Maison
  • Tulip jug · GreenGate, “Marie”
  • Wooden tray · DIY with vintage wood
  • Lampshade · Riviera Maison
  • “New England Fish Market” · DIY, brush & patience
  • Vintage ski runner “RM” · Marktplaats.nl (Netherlands)

Tip: I change the table runner with the seasons – thin linen in summer, earthy stripes in autumn, thick wool in winter. That way the dining table feels a little different every season.

Secrets de Cuisine dresser with pastel-coloured cups

“Secrets de Cuisine” · my dresser full of little secrets

My absolute favourite piece. The cabinet came to me once as a plain dresser base – I added the curved “Secrets de Cuisine” lettering myself later. Today it holds all my pastel crockery, little willow baskets and all kinds of treasures I never want to part with.

The living room · calm, bright, full of little moments of light

In the living room · growing quieter

Cherry-blossom branches, soft sage cushions and my beloved “Welcome on Board” sign in wickerwork – a souvenir from a weekend on the Dutch coast. Beside it my reading corner: this is where I sit in the morning with coffee and a book, wrapped in linen and wool. The little wooden hearts at the window are a souvenir from the Allgäu – favourite pieces that smile at me every morning.

“So much of what you see here has a story – a flea-market find, a souvenir from a trip, a piece that was passed down to me. It’s this mix of new and old that makes a room mine in the first place.”

Vintage decor with a lighthouse and a Riviera Maison candle

Little memories · given a big stage

In detail · my souvenirs

Little arrangements like these are simply part of living, for me. The black-and-white lighthouse is a summer-holiday souvenir from the North Sea, the Riviera Maison tray is from Amsterdam, the olive branch in the bucket from a trip to the Mediterranean. Even the little N. Kruijer crate I found at a Dutch brocante – stories to look at, every day.

The kitchen · the heart of it all

A little Riviera Maison, a little GreenGate, lots of white wood and everything that tastes of country. In spring fresh herbs move onto the windowsill, bright striped tea towels and blossoms replace the wintry ones, and the bread and storage tins in soft sage make the mood especially gentle. I wanted the SMEG fridge in mint for years, by the way – when it finally arrived, the whole kitchen was suddenly “finished”.

Hallway with a white cabinet, Sequetucket Habor lettering, tulips and GreenGate baskets

The hallway · Sequetucket Harbor, a touch of Nantucket at our place

The hallway · the first hello

The hallway is the first thing my guests see – and I love throwing them a little “come in, make yourself at home” right away. The hand-painted “Sequetucket Habor” lettering on the cabinet is my little homage to Nantucket, to that playful New England feeling that Riviera Maison captures so beautifully. All around it gather pink tulips, daisies, GreenGate baskets, my “Country Garden” sign and of course my faithful “Manufacture Paris” bag – it once followed me home from a trip to France and has never left its hook since.

And now the secret

And because I like to be honest: this proud cabinet you see above isn’t really a “real” piece of furniture at all. I built it from plain IKEA shoe cabinets – a bit of chalk paint, a thick oak board as a top, old knobs from the flea market, patient sanding, and finally the lettering applied with stencils and black paint. Suddenly it had become my favourite storage piece. Sometimes it doesn’t take the most expensive piece, just a good idea and a little courage with the brush.

Living in Country Style – what truly moves me

Living in country style, to me, doesn’t mean styling everything to perfection. It means creating a room where you can truly arrive. With natural materials that feel good, with light that warms, with fabrics that invite you to run your hand over them. Whether designing a cosy living room, linen curtains for the living room or stylish living with a dog – here you’ll find ideas that come from real, everyday life.

In summer come the striped cushions and bunches of lavender. In autumn pumpkins and wool throws. In winter fir branches and fairy lights. Every season has its own language here at Villa Bloom & Co. – and each time I look forward anew to letting it speak.
