Living · Spring 2026

My home in full spring bloom

There is this one moment each year when I draw the curtains aside and realise: now spring may come in. Delicate tulips move into the vases, heavy blankets give way to light linen, the candles turn a shade brighter. Come along – I’ll show you how Villa Bloom & Co. is transforming right now, room by room.

Dining room in spring style with wicker chairs, pink tulips and GreenGate cushions

The dining room · pink tulips, checked cushions and a touch of New England

The dining table · my favourite spot

I found the wicker chairs little by little on classified-ad sites – one at a time, each from a different seller. By now there are four of us seated. The cushions in GreenGate check and a delicate floral pattern change every season: soft, light and with a hint of pink for spring. Add pink tulips from the garden and a little fresh green – really, you don’t need more.

The chairs, the tulips, the stories

This corner grew over three years. I tracked the wicker chairs down one by one on classified-ad sites – each from a different seller, sometimes after a bit of a drive, sometimes picked up just around the corner. There are four now, each with its own little story. The large wicker lampshade above is from Riviera Maison and tempted me for months before it finally moved in with me as a birthday gift.

In the photo you can see

  • Wicker chairs · classified ads, various sellers
  • Cream seat cushions · hand-sewn from linen
  • Sage checked cushions · GreenGate
  • Floral cushions · GreenGate, “Mary”
  • Linen table runner · Riviera Maison
  • Tulip jug · GreenGate, “Marie”
  • Wooden tray · DIY with vintage wood
  • Lampshade · Riviera Maison
  • “New England Fish Market” · DIY, a brush & patience
  • Vintage skis “RM” · Marktplaats.nl (Netherlands)

Tip: I change the table runner with the seasons – thin linen in summer, earthy stripes in autumn, thick wool fabric in winter. That way the dining table feels a little different every season.

Secrets de Cuisine buffet cabinet with pastel-coloured cups

“Secrets de Cuisine” · my buffet cabinet full of little secrets

My absolute favourite piece. The cabinet first came to me as a plain buffet body – I added the flowing “Secrets de Cuisine” lettering myself later on. Today it holds all my pastel-coloured crockery, little wicker baskets and all sorts of treasures I never want to part with.

The living room · calm, light, full of little moments of light

In the living room · growing quieter

Cherry blossom branches, soft sage cushions and my dearly loved “Welcome on Board” sign made of wicker – a souvenir from a weekend on the Dutch coast. Next to it, my reading corner: this is where I sit in the morning with coffee and a book, wrapped in linen and wool. The little wooden hearts by the window are a souvenir from the Allgäu – favourite pieces that smile at me every morning.

“Much of what you see here has a story – a flea-market find, a souvenir from a trip, a piece that was passed down to me. It’s this mix of new and old that makes a room truly mine.”

Vintage decor with lighthouse and Riviera Maison candle

Small memories · given a big stage

In detail · my souvenirs

For me, little arrangements like this are simply part of making a home. The black-and-white lighthouse is a summer-holiday souvenir from the North Sea, the Riviera Maison tray from Amsterdam, the olive branch in the bucket from a trip to the Mediterranean. Even the little N. Kruijer crate I found at a Dutch brocante – stories to look at, every day.

The kitchen · my centrepiece

A little Riviera Maison, a little GreenGate, lots of white wood and everything that tastes of country house. In spring, fresh herbs move onto the windowsill, light striped and floral tea towels replace the wintery ones, and the bread and storage tins in soft sage make the mood especially gentle. Incidentally, I wanted the mint SMEG fridge for years – when it finally arrived, the whole kitchen was suddenly “finished”.

Hallway with white cabinet, Sequetucket Habor lettering, tulips and GreenGate baskets

The hallway · Sequetucket Habor, a touch of Nantucket at home

The hallway · the first welcome

The hallway is the first thing my guests see – and I love throwing them a little “come in, make yourself at home” right away. The hand-painted “Sequetucket Habor” lettering on the cabinet is my little homage to Nantucket, to that playful New England feeling that Riviera Maison captures so wonderfully too. All around it, pink tulips, daisies, GreenGate baskets, my “Country Garden” sign and, of course, my faithful “Manufacture Paris” bag bustle about – it once followed me home from a trip to France and has never left its hook since.

And now the secret

And because I like to be honest: this proud cabinet you see above isn’t really a “real” piece of furniture at all. I built it from plain IKEA shoe cabinets – a bit of chalk paint, a thick oak board as the top, old knobs from the flea market, patient sanding, and finally the lettering applied with stencils and black paint. Suddenly it had become my favourite storage piece. Sometimes it doesn’t take the most expensive piece, just a good idea and a little courage with the brush.

In summer come the striped cushions and lavender bouquets. In autumn, pumpkins and wool throws. In winter, fir branches and fairy lights. Every season has its own language here at Villa Bloom & Co. – and each time I look forward anew to letting it speak.
