Country-Style Christmas Decoration natural, warm and unforgettable
Christmas is the one celebration where I do not do things by halves. From the first Sunday of Advent I decorate – but not with red plastic glitter and flashing fairy lights. Instead with pine branches that smell of the forest. With white candles that are allowed to drip. With wooden figures from my grandmother that I take out of the box every year and would never throw away.

The principle: natural and restrained no plastic, only real materials
Country-style Christmas decoration works with materials that come from nature: pine branches, pine cones, wax, wood, ceramics, linen. No plastic decoration, no cheap polystyrene snow, no foil ribbons. Instead: the smell of real pine branches, the drip of real candles, the patina of old wooden figures.
The colour palette: white, natural, natural wood, gold in muted tones, perhaps a touch of burgundy or pine green. No red-and-green clash.

I have been making my own advent wreath for years – from a straw ring, pine branches, cones, dried orange slices and four white or cream candles. It takes an hour, smells wonderful and brings more joy than anything you can buy.
