Country-Style Spring Decoration when the home bids farewell to winter

There is that moment in February or March – suddenly the light is different. Not so flat and cold anymore, but more slanted, warmer, promising. On that day I begin. The heavy wool blankets go into the cupboard, the winter-scented candles are replaced, and I start putting the first pussy willows in a large vase. Spring decoration in country style is not a shopping list for me – it is the slow opening of the home for the new season.

The principle of spring decoration light instead of heavy, bright instead of dark

The transition from winter to spring in home decoration is above all a materials swap. Heavy wool fabrics for light linen. Dark candles for bright ones. Wintering branches for the first blossoms. You do not need to buy everything new – usually it is enough to replace the things of one season with those of the other.

1 · Pussy willows, spring blooms and Easter the first steps and the best occasion

Pussy willows in a large, plain vase – that is my signal that spring is here. After the pussy willows come: forsythia branches, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths.

Easter is my favourite decorating date. A table with a white linen cloth, small bird nests of moss, painted eggs in muted natural colours, fresh hyacinths in a ceramic pot.
